Most healthcare organizations look to the quality department for coordination of accreditation and regulatory readiness activities but the responsibility can be daunting. Even seasoned quality professionals can feel overwhelmed when accreditation and regulatory readiness responsibilities are added to already full plates. Where do we start? Where should we focus? How can we detect problems before an external surveyor does? How do we evaluate standards compliance among professional disciplines or settings we know little about? This learning lab will explain how to implement tracers and other strategies for continuous survey readiness. Practical approaches for engaging staff at all levels as well as tips for developing a “surveyor’s sixth sense” will be discussed. Earn 1 CPHQ CE credit upon completion and evaluation of the activity. A copy of presentation is included. Presenter: Heidi Benson, RN-TN, MS, CPHQ, FNAHQ
