Live Learning Lab: Engaging, Educating, and Implementing Quality within the Clinical Staff
Speaker: Michael Friedman, MD CPHQ
Dr. Friedman is a physician that has been involved in Quality for over 20 years. He has been instrumental in instituting Quality programs in 3 different Hospitals/Organizations throughout his career. In addition to achieving a CPHQ, he is also a certified inspector for AAAASF (inspects and credentials facilities with procedure/operating rooms) which provides a strong well rounded foundation. His goal is to bridge the gap between administration and clinical staff and facilitate the "Engaging, Educating, and Implementing Quality".
The purpose of this Learning Lab is to provide tools to help facilitate the "how to" of engaging the "clinical staff". In many institutions, there is a barrier of resistance between the administrative and clinical staff when it comes to "quality". Most clinical staff are forced to participate in "quality" without understanding the overall picture or the impact of the projects. This Learning Lab will create an "understanding" to present to the clinical staff as well as provide suggestions for the implementation of some simple Project Improvements. This presentation is a conglomerate of years of experience, interpersonal relationships skills, lean, 6 sigma and more. This topic is important because one way to successfully achieve compliance is though understanding and not "mandate". The transition from volume to value based healthcare is here to stay. An efficient team based approach will facilitate the success in any quality program.
Learning Objectives:
- How to effectively educated clinical staff about Healthcare Quality
- Understand the transition from volume to value based healthcare
- How to implement effective "immediate" projects
- How to grow and not shrink a quality program
