Live Learning Lab: Are We In the Green? Adventures in Missing the Point and Measuring What Matters

Healthcare organizations are inundated with data. Dashboards, reports, and measures of all sorts abound. Are all measures equal? How can we tell if the resources spent on process compliance are actually producing an acceptable return in terms of outcome? This session will provide attendees with a strategy for answering these questions. Through group discussion, case studies and integration of quality management methods with the execution framework used by Google and other organizations changing the world, attendees will leave with a clear strategy for driving change in their organizations by measuring what matters.

Participants will learn about the life cycle of a performance measure. They will be given a methodology for identifying which measures aren't truly effective.
Statistical methods for assessing independence will be discussed.Participants will leave with a practical model for creating new process measures, quantifying their effectiveness and knowing when it's time to "pull the plug".
